How to read this

TaxDriverPro is a planning tool for gig drivers. We focus on the numbers that matter most for typical gig-driver returns: Schedule C net income, self-employment tax, federal income tax, and state income tax.

Privacy: the calculator runs locally in your browser. We don’t upload or store your income, miles, or tax details.

Tax year toggle (2025 vs 2026)

The tax-year picker updates federal rules (brackets, standard deduction, mileage rate, Social Security wage base) and state rules where those rules are known.

California note: FTB’s 2026 Form 540‑ES instructions direct taxpayers to use the prior-year (2025) tax tables for planning estimated tax. That’s what this app does for CA when you select 2026.

What we calculate

  • Federal income tax (progressive brackets)
  • Self-employment tax (Social Security + Medicare, including the wage-base cap)
  • QBI deduction (common cases; simplified)
  • State income tax for 15 supported states

Important limitations (production-ready disclosures)

  • Local taxes are not included (for example: NYC/Yonkers, PA local earned income taxes, city wage taxes, etc.).
  • Some state-specific items are not modeled (special credits, add-backs, household-specific phaseouts). We aim to be accurate for the most common gig-driver scenarios, but this is not filing software.
  • This is not tax advice. If you need exact answers for a complex situation, work with a tax professional.

State coverage (15 states)

We publish state parameters in code so they are auditable. If a state changes a rate mid-year or issues new instructions, we update the app and bump the “Rates last updated” date.

  • IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32 (2026 inflation adjustments)
  • IRS standard mileage rate (2025) and IRS Notice 2026-10 (2026 mileage rate)
